Yoga Basics 101

E

This is a perfect class for a new yogi or an advanced yogi who is looking to reevaluate existing yoga asanas that are routinely done in class. We move slower and teach alignment and proper engagement of body. 

* No yoga experience is necessary.

Barre Fusion

Barre fusion class is a hybrid practice combining ballet inspired moves with elements of Pilates, Yoga and strength training. This low impact class focuses on high reps and small range movements for long lean muscles, joint stability and strength of mind, body and spirit. Each movement is followed by a stretch. We consider this class “fine tuning” for the body.

*Dance experience not required and all levels encouraged.

Mindful Barre Fusion

Mindful Barre Fusion is a practice that fuses together traditional barre methods founded in 1940 by Lotte Berk with the traditional yoga asana philosophy. This practice supports spinal function in form in a woman’s body, creating an impression of longer and leaner body lines. This practice also helps to off-set the natural occurrence of osteoporosis by 30% if done over the course of 6 months by strengthening the anatomical bone structure.

Gentle Restorative Yoga

Gentle yoga is a variation of traditional Hatha Yoga which was created to allow yoga accessible for all body types and levels. This class focuses on supporting the practitioners mental, physical and spiritual needs; providing therapeutic modifications to common yoga poses. Props are often used to help clients achieve the maximum benefit from the asana (posture).

*No experience necessary, ideal for beginners or those looking to slow down their normal more
rigorous practice.

Happy Hour Yoga

Happy Hour Yoga is exactly what it sounds like! A relaxed practice that encourages freedom of movement and thought, preparing the practitioner for a wonderful, healthy weekend. This class takes the client’s needs first and accommodates all requests. Show up and let’s have some fun!

*No experience necessary and all levels encouraged.

Hatha Mixed Level

Hatha Mixed Level (including Anusara Yoga) guides the practitioner through a class that focuses on proper body alignment and attention to detail. This class weaves together deep spiritual teachings with precise principles of traditional Hatha Yoga. This is also great for someone new to yoga that is interested in understanding the asanas (postures) of yoga.

Mandala Vinyasa Yoga

Mandala Vinyasa Yoga is a practice which honors the creative energy in all its manifestations. Integrating the spiral patterns that nature uses to shape and create the material and energetic worlds. Opening us up into deeper introspection as we move and expand around the mat. This practice leads us into places that our awareness would not have accessed by following a linear pattern. This methodology is highly influenced by the 4 elements: Air, Earth, Fire & Water.

Using repetition as a means to continuously visit the target areas of the body, creating familiarity and comfort while reinforcing different perspectives to attain our goals.

Niyama Soul Power HOT Yoga

Niyama Soul Power Yoga is our signature class created by our Founder, Nicole Zornitzer. This class is a kaleidoscope of meaningful expression through movement of the body; relying on the core values presented in Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras. Dynamic music is used to spark the soul-body connection. Attention is brought to the release of stagnant prana (energy), while simultaneously honoring the culmination of life’s journey. All creating a beautiful tapestry of the spirit. The soul is where we find ourselves, the practice is the compass to arrive.

*Intermediate to advanced levels recommended. Is done in a heated room.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep as commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. While the practioner rests comfortably in savasana (corpse pose), this systematic meditation guides you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness.

*No experience necessary and all levels encouraged.

Power Vinyasa HOT & Non Heated

Power Vinyasa is a more rigorous practice focusing on alignment and body strength and flexibility. Attention is brought to the power within all bodies and our ability to separate ego from reality. This class introduces the traditional asana (postures) in a healthy way that encourages all practitioners to experiment with what the body is capable of while practicing in a safe environment.

*Beginner to Intermediate experience recommended. Is done in both heated and non-heated room.

The Barkan Vinyasa Method

The Barkan Vinyasa Method is a Hatha/Vinyasa style class is based on Jimmy Barkan’s Method of Hot Yoga, consisting of five Vinyasa flows that integrate many of the familiar postures in the Original Hot Yoga series. This class is dynamic and challenging but suitable for all levels; combining upper body strength, flexibility and cardiovascular exercise. It is a fairly set sequence of flows, new practitioners will quickly acclimate and experienced practitioners will be able to explore the depths of their practice and variations more easily.

*Suggested for the intermediate practitioner. Is done in a heated room.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa Flow Yoga focuses on the mind / body connection using breath (pranayama) as our connection to movement. The practitioner will move fluidly from one asana (posture) to the next in tandem with proper breathing exercises.

*No experience necessary and all levels are encouraged.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga in which yoga asanas (postures) are held for longer periods of time to penetrate the deepest tissues of the joints, bones, ligaments and deep fascia. This allows for increased flexibility in both the physical body and the emotional body. Yin’s main purpose is to provide grounding and gain the ability to slow down, listen to your body and learn to surrender to your practice.

*No experience necessary and all levels are encouraged.

M.O.T.R.

E

This is a pilates inspired program that uses the concepts of TRX Training and Resistance Training. Niyama Yoga & Wellness Studio is one of the only studios in the tri-state area to have an offer this unique style workout. This is done on a M.O.T.R. machine in the studio. This style workout improves core strength, upper & lower body strength, balance and agility and functional alignment.
No experience is necessary.

Yoga Vinyasa Fundamentals

This program guides a newer yogi through the dynamic concept of Vinyasa Flow. The student is guided safely from asana to asana with attention to function, form and breath. Perfect for a new yogi.

Yoga for Beginners 

E

The ideal class for a new yogi. Core concepts of movement and breath are taught in a slow manner, enabling everyone to get the maximum benefit out of their yoga practice.
No experience is necessary.

HIIT / Tabata / Yoga

HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training which includes short spurts of energy release. We use the concepts of Tabata Training in which high intensity movements are done for approximately 4 minutes followed with gentle yoga asana to help stretch and strengthen the body. This is recommended for intermediate to advanced workout lovers.

Yogalates

E

Yogalates is inspired by yoga and pilates movements. In this class you will strengthen the core with traditional pilates movements and follow with yoga asana to properly lengthen and stretch the target areas. This is recommended for all levels of yoga and pilates practitioners.

Meditation

Our meditation classes are some of our signature classes. We introduce becoming mindful on the mat and off of the mat. Incorporation of breath and stillness are reinforced with dharma concepts.

This is recommended for every yoga from beginners to advanced.

Warrior Flow

E
This dynamic and one of a kind program was developed by our very own Hallie Robin. This class balances the masculine and feminine energies and enables us to root to rise.

This class is ideal for intermediate to advanced practitioners.
